According to FBI statistics, female DUI arrests increased 30 percent between 1998 and 2007, while male DUI arrests decreased by 7.5 percent over the same period. Although men are still as much as four times as likely to be arrested for impaired driving, women are gaining.
Some experts think that with more women in the workplace and more single mothers, women are starting to take on some of the characteristics of men, including driving habits. “Women are driving more like men and, unfortunately, have picked up some of their dangerous habits,” said Barbara Harsha, executive director of the Governors Highway Safety Association.
Nationally, last year 11, 773 people died in accidents involving a driver who was over the legal blood alcohol level. You can prevent this from happening again by calling a cab or using a designated driver. Don’t let your friends or family members drive drunk. And, as parents, talk to your teens about the dangers of drunk driving and underage drinking.

It’s almost like someone is implying bad driver habits are learned from men including DUI.Is it possible these men and women w/DUI’s learned this behavior from their parents[both].
You make a good point. Personally, I think the “they learned it from men” logic is a bit weak. But there have not been any studies done on why female DUIs are on the rise, while male DUIs are declining. I’m sure there are other social, parental, or economic factors that contribute to this trend. Right now, any theories as to why it is happening are just grasping at straws.
